Wednesday, January 19, 2005 ...homeworkland... Here's a problem that I found amusing on our calc review... I'm sure none of you will find it amusing but ok: 48. A manufacturer determines that the cost of making x units of a commodity is C(x)=1800+25x-.2x^2+.001x^3 and the demand function is p(x)=48.2-.03x we don't care about question a... question b though I love: b) Use calculus to find the production level for a maximum profit. Doesn't that sound just so great? USE CALCULUS to find the answer... it's like we're learning something magical or really powerful, like how luke skywalker gets trained in the force by yoda, we're learning calculus. Use calculus!
